OSHA has valuable guidelines for both the employer and employee. The purpose of OSHA is to provide, as far as possible, safe and healthful working conditions for U.S. workers. Under the law, both employees and employers have a role and responsibility. For this discussion, you will discuss the rights and responsibilities of both employees and employers under OSHA. Depending on the first letter of last name, you will examine the rights and responsibilities of the employee or employer. If your last name begins with A-K, you will examine the rights and responsibilities of an employee and if your last name begins with L-Z, you will examine the rights and responsibilities of an employer.
In your initial post, take on the role you have been assigned to and examine how OSHA applies to you.
• What are your rights and responsibilities?
• How is it enforced?
• What accommodations are available under OSHA?
• What conditions must be met before an employee can refuse to work based on OSHA.
